Why Isn’t My iPhone Ringing? Let’s Fix it

Have you noticed that your iPhone isn’t ringing when you know there are people trying to get in touch with you? If so, it’s possible that your iPhone is suffering from poor reception or another problem, and there are some steps you can take to determine the cause of this issue and fix it.

Turn off Do Not Disturb or Focus mode

The first thing you should check is whether your phone is on Do Not Disturb or Focus mode. If you’re in a meeting and don’t want to be disturbed, turn on one of these modes so that your phone doesn’t ring.

You’ll also see a symbol in the status bar at the top of your screen if either one is activated. To turn off either mode, swipe up from the bottom of your screen and tap Do Not Disturb or Focus. After turning off the feature, restart your phone by pressing and holding down the power button until the slide to power off appears. Finally, press the red slider.

Check That Your iPhone Isn’t Stuck in Headphones Mode

If your phone is stuck in headphones mode, there are a few things you can do to fix the problem. First, unplug any headphones that might be plugged into your phone, and then plug them back in without anything playing.

If this doesn’t work, try turning off Bluetooth on your device and then turning it back on again. Finally, if you’re using an older version of iOS (9 or below), you may want to update to the newest operating system.

You can find out what your current OS version is by going to Settings>General>About. Once you’ve updated, restart your device and check for updates again. If none show up, contact Apple Support.

See If Any Custom Ringtones Aren’t Working

Sometimes we get busy and forget to change our ringtone. In the past, you would have to go through a few steps in order to change it, but iOS 11 has made it easier than ever before. Simply go into your Settings > Sounds and select the tone that you would like to use as your new ringtone.

If that doesn’t work, try turning off Bluetooth or Airplane Mode and then going back into Sounds. If that doesn’t work, contact Apple Support for further assistance. They are there to help you fix anything! The support team can be reached at 1-800-MY-APPLE, they are also active on Twitter (@AppleSupport). We hope this helps you out with your troubleshooting!

Make Sure The Number Isn’t Blocked

If you’re wondering why your iPhone isn’t ringing, there are a few things that could be causing the issue. One reason is that you may have blocked the caller or group of callers on your phone by mistake.

To unblock a number or group of numbers, go to Settings > Phone > Blocked and then tap Edit at the top right corner of the screen. Next, click the red circle next to the contact or group of contacts you want to unblock, and then tap Unblock when prompted. You can also add people back into your phonebook from this menu.

Just tap Add New, enter their name, and then choose whether they should appear in the Favorites tab or Recents tab. The other possible reason your iPhone might not ring is that its volume settings are too low.

To check these settings, open Control Center (by swiping up from the bottom of any screen) and make sure you don’t see any volume sliders below ringer/alerts for either text tones or media volume. If so, drag them up to turn them off.

Flip The Switch To Turn off Silent Mode

Many people don’t realize they have their phone set to silent mode until they have a bunch of missed calls and messages. Even worse, when your phone is in silent mode you can’t receive notifications. To turn off Silent Mode:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. 2Scroll down and tap Sounds.
  3. Tap the slider next to Silent so that it turns green.
  4. Close out of the Settings app and you will see the change take place immediately. Now, you should be able to hear incoming calls and text alerts!
  5. If for some reason your ringer still isn’t working correctly, try restarting your device.

Increase Your iPhone’s Volume

If your iPhone is on but isn’t ringing, the problem may be that you have accidentally adjusted the volume of your phone. If this is the case, you will need to adjust the volume back up to a desirable level.

To do this go to Settings -> Sounds -> and change Ringtone & Alerts from Vibrate Only to Silent. You can also take advantage of Airplane Mode if your goal is to avoid disturbances in a noisy environment.

There are many other reasons why an iPhone might not be ringing, so here are some troubleshooting tips for those as well:

Check whether or not your battery has any power left – if there is none left, charge your phone immediately using the Lightning connector with the power adapter plugged into an outlet.

Restart or Reset Your iPhone

Restart or reset your device to fix a variety of issues, including those that may cause your phone to stop ringing. To restart or reset your device:

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the red slider appear on the screen.
  1. Drag the slider across and release it when you want to turn off your device.
  1. When you’re ready, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see an Apple logo appear on the screen.
  1. Wait for your iPhone to start up and then tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
  1. Tap Erase iPhone, type in your password if prompted, then tap Reset at the top of the screen when it appears with Delete All Data. highlighted in yellow (or Don’t Delete All Data?).
  1. Wait while your iPhone resets itself and erases all data.

Get your iPhone Serviced

If your iPhone is not ringing, there are a few things to try first. Check the volume settings on your phone and make sure that you don’t have the mute switch on. If your ringer volume is set too low or the vibrate mode is turned on, you won’t hear any sound from your phone when someone tries to call you.

Make sure that you don’t have a passcode lock on your phone either because this will also mute the phone. If you’re still not hearing anything, then bring your device in for service.

There may be an issue with the speaker or headphone jack of your phone that needs to be repaired by an expert. If your battery is draining quickly, go ahead and replace it as well to fix the problem.

Your iPhone might just need a simple update to get everything working properly again. Once you’ve tried all these steps if your phone isn’t ringing like normal then take it into their store so they can get you taken care of!
