No. Technically, the Samsung S23 Plus series is not fully waterproof but they are water-resistant. Yes, there is a big difference between waterproofing and water resistance. Difference Between Waterproof and Water-Resistant

The term waterproof means 100% impenetrable by water, while the term water-resistant means the device can withstand a limited amount of water exposure.  So the Samsung S23 Plus comes with an IP68 rating which can stand up to 6m deep inside water for 30 minutes. Now you might be wondering what will happen if it stays beyond 30 minutes inside the water. Well, your guess is as good as mine.

On the Samsung official page, we can see that the Samsung S23 Plus is equipped with an IP68 rating. Top gadget sites explain that you can break this ranking into three parts. “IP” stands for “International Protection Marking,” meaning the ranking is an international standard uses to assess how much a device can protect itself from dust and water.

Furthermore, the “6” in the ranking is the phone’s dust protection rating while the 8″ ranks the phone’s water resistance says Gadget Hacks. An “8” water resistance rating means that you can go underwater at a depth of at least one meter for up to 30 minutes without your Samsung being damaged. This is the minimum requirement for an 8 rating.

To prevent Samsung S23 liquid damage, avoid the following…

  • Swimming or bathing with your Samsung S23 Plus
  • Exposing your Samsung to pressurized water or high-velocity
  • water, such as when showering, water skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on

  • Intentionally submerging your Samsung in water
  • Operating your Samsung outside the suggested temperature ranges or in extremely humid conditions
  • Dropping your Samsung or subjecting it to other impacts
  • Disassembling your Samsung, including removing screws

Samsung also encourages users to minimize exposing their devices to soap, detergents, acids or acidic foods, and any liquids. However, if your Samsung S23 Plus comes in contact with perfume, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, adhesive remover, hair dye, and solvents, you should use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to clean it up.

How to Know if your Samsung S23 Plus is Water Damage

Your Samsung device comes with a built-in Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) that changes color. If you suspect that your device has been damaged by water, then follow the steps below to check for it.

Step 1: Power off your phone and insert the ejector tool into the small hole next to the SIM/MicroSD tray. This will remove the tray.

Step 2: Next, shine your flashlight into the SIM/MicroSD slot. If your device has been exposed to moisture, the LDI will be solid pink, purple, or red. However, if your device has not been exposed to moisture, the LDI will be solid white or solid white with pink or purple.

Can I Shower With My Samsung S23 Plus?

Remember, your Samsung S23 Plus is not waterproof and since it has an IP68 rating, high pressure or temperatures can reduce the water-resistant level and water may penetrate it. That is why you should not swim, shower, bathe, or play water sports with your Samsung device.

Can I Take My Samsung S23 Plus to the Pool?
