How to Get the Fitbit App for Your Phone

  • Navigate to the Google Play Store on your smartphone.
  • Look for the Fitbit app.
  • Just like with any other app, tap the install button.

How to Register for a Fitbit Account

  • Launch the Fitbit app.
  • Tap Join Fitbit to create a new account if you are new to the Fitbit ecosystem.
  • Fill up your email address and a password that only you know. To proceed, you must also check the box next to Fitbit’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Use statement, but we recommend leaving the box below, relating to promotional notifications, unchecked. To proceed, tap Next.
  • Read through Fitbit’s key privacy policy points on the next screen. To proceed, tap I Agree.
  • Next, enter your personal information, such as weight and height, so that the tracker can provide customized analytics. When you’re finished, go to the bottom of the screen and tap Create an account.
  • On the next screen, choose your fitness tracker; in this example, we’re using the Fitbit Versa 2. On the next screen, the app will display an image of the tracker you selected. Check to make sure it’s your model, then tap the Set up button to continue the pairing process.

How to Link a Fitbit Charge 4

  • After reading the privacy statement, click Accept.
  • Fitbit recommends connecting the charger to your fitness tracker during the setup process. Continue to tap Next.
  • Check that Bluetooth is turned on your phone. A four-digit code will be displayed on your Fitbit. To proceed, enter that into the app.
  • Depending on the tracker, you may be prompted to connect your watch to Wi-Fi. A Wi-Fi connection does speed up the setup process, so if a wireless network is available, we recommend using it.
  • When you tap Next, the app will look for the most recent firmware version for your fitness tracker. If new firmware is available, it will be downloaded and installed on your watch. This procedure could take some time.

How to Synchronize Your Fitbit Charge 4

  • Once the update is complete, you will be guided through some basic Fitbit usage instructions.
  • The following step is to connect the Fitbit app to your fitness tracker.
  • The app will sync with your tracker regularly to update the most recent stats.
  • If you want to force a sync with your tracker, simply pull it down on the app’s home screen.

That’s all! You are now ready to start tracking your fitness stats and working toward your fitness goals. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions about how to set up Fitbit devices.

Battery life is excellent, but there are some Limitations

Under normal use, the Charge 4 lasts about six days on a single charge, which is longer than most advanced wearables. It charges quickly and isn’t something you have to worry about most of the time.

However, there are a few issues that are worth mentioning. To begin with, when the battery falls below 20%, the Charge 4 appears to enter a power-saving mode that restricts functionality. Second, using GPS-enabled features such as exercise tracking will drain the battery much faster.

How to Activate the Fitbit Charge 4

If you’ve just received your Fitbit Charge 4 and are using it for the first time, the tracker will turn on after you plug it in and connect the charging cable. The first time you take the Charge 4 out of the box, pressing and holding the button will have no effect.

The Charge 4 does not have a traditional button like other Fitbits but instead has an inductive button on the left. This means that when you close the electric circuit with your finger, the Charge 4 registers a “press.” The indentation serves as a guide to ensure that your finger is placed correctly.

How to Reboot the Fitbit Charge 4

You’ll need to restart the Charge 4 from time to time for a variety of reasons. Maybe your notifications aren’t syncing properly, or maybe your workout data isn’t being tracked properly. Nothing beats a good old-fashioned restart for clearing the cobwebs. You can accomplish this in several ways.

  • Launch the Fitbit Settings app.
  • Tap the About button.
  • Choose Reboot Device.

But what if your Charge 4 becomes unresponsive and requires a “hard” reboot? This is a little more involved and necessitates the use of your Charge 4’s charger. Here’s how to force restart your Fitbit:

  • Connect the charging cable’s USB end to a wall charger or a USB port on your computer.
  • Clip the charger’s other end to the back of the Charge
  • Check that the charging pins between the charger and your Fitbit are properly aligned.
  • If everything is done correctly, your Fitbit should vibrate and a battery icon should appear on the display.
  • For eight seconds, press and hold the button on the side.
  • Let go of the button.
  • When Charge 4 is restarted, an icon will appear and it will vibrate.

Finally, the Fitbit Charge 4 is arguably the most popular option in Fitbit’s lineup, combining the best fitness tracking with additional features. Indeed, it has aided Fitbit in fine-tuning the various metrics and sensors, allowing us to continue to see improvements in other Fitbit devices. Please let us know how you like the Fitbit Charge 4, or if you use a different fitness tracker.
